Masaryk Memorial Institute is a Canadian non-profit organization based in Toronto, Ontario that has been serving people of Czech and Slovak origin living in Canada since 1945. Masaryk Memorial Institute was established by those who fled the oppressive regimes first of fascism and then communism.

Named in honour of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, the father of the first independent and democratic Czechoslavia (Czech and Slovak Republics today), our non-profit group continues to hold true to his vision of responsible self-governance.

Our purpose is to

  • promote Czech and Slovak cultural heritage;

  • maintain the Czech and Slovak languages in our community;

  • support cultural relationships between Canada and the Czech and Slovak Republics; and

  • strive to educate the Canadian public about our culture, history and Czech and Slovak contributions to Canadian society.
